The 29th Annual Run What Cha Brung Car Show

Poster board with a photo of my 1956 Buick Special that I brought to the 2013 Run What Cha Brung Car Show Fuji Park Carson City NVThis past weekend (June 29th) I attended the 29th Annual “Run What Cha Brung” car show put on by the local car club in Carson City, the Karson Kruzers.  Since my car is not finished, I took a large picture of it as it looks after returning from the body shop with a new paint job.  I had already registered for the event, and I didn’t want to miss it, so I decided to at least show a picture of my car!  Well, I didn’t get too many “oohs and ahhs” for that, but I wanted to do something since I had already signed up for the event.

Run What Cha Brung” is a three-day event held at Fuji Park, which is situated at the south end of Carson City.  It is a grass covered park with a lot of trees providing good shade, and the venue is overall a nice place for a show.   There were approximately 250 cars being shown, and most of the people who show their cars live in the area, most in Nevada and some from California as well.

The festivities kick off on Friday night with a ‘Street Dance’  at the Carson Mall, focused right around the Carl’s Jr.  Some, but not all of the participants show up for the ‘Street Dance’, and often times other classic car owners that are not entered into the show come by to show off their hot rods too.  The ‘Street Dance’ includes live music being played by a D.J., and the parking lot is full of classic cars for all to come by and take a peek at.

Saturday is the main event ‘Show N Shine’ at Fuji Park, and the entries are parked throughout the grassy area of the park.  Judging happens throughout the day, and there are food and other vendors supplying tasty food and goodies to buy.

On Sunday, the festivities wrap up with the trophy and award ceremony after breakfast.

If you want to check out some of the beautiful classic cars that were at the Fuji Park show n shine, head on over to the photo gallery I set up.
